We need to raise $10,000 in order to finance our competition and travel costs.

We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in the World Festival in Atlanta. It is a wonderful event that brings together middle and high school kids from all over the world to showcase their scientific and creative talents. Consider these startling facts:

  • In 2003, American 15-year olds ranked 24th in science education among similarly aged populations in 40 countries in science. America tied with Latvia.
  • In 2006, American 15-year olds ranked 27th in science proficiency, and 36th in math, among 58 countries.
  • Several key U.S. agencies for scientific research and development will face a retirement crisis within the next ten years.
  • Less than 6% of our high school seniors plan to pursue engineering degrees, down 36% from a decade ago.
  • In 2000, 56% of China’s undergraduate degrees were in the hard sciences; in the United States, the figure was 17%.

    Encouraging kids like us to excel in challenges like the World Festival will help reverse these trends.

    We need your help. Our team is currently looking for corporate sponsors to get us to Atlanta. Your corporate name will be advertised on our T-shirts as well as on all official team correspondence throughout the competition. Our team is available to you for a presentation.

    Levels of Sponsorships

    Friends of Sandy LEGO Beachbots: Donation of $1 - $999. Your name or organization’s name will be listed on the back of our team shirts and also on our website’s sponsor page.

    Executive Circle: Donation of $1000 - $4,999. Your name or organization’s name will be listed in larger type than the Friends level on the back of our team shirts and also on our website. If your organization has a logo, a small version of the logo will be on the back of our team shirts and also on the website’s sponsor page. Your logo and company name will also appear on a banner in our pit area during the entire three days of the competition.

    Premier Level: Donation of $5,000 and above. Your name or organization’s name will be listed in larger type than the Executive level on the back of our team shirts and also on our website. If your organization has a logo, a larger version than the Executive level will be on the back of our team shirts and on every page of our team’s website. A representative from your company will be invited to attend any media events we have in San Diego County. A large version of your logo and company name will also appear on a banner in our pit area during the entire three days of the competition.

    All levels of giving are greatly appreciated. Every dollar we receive is invaluable to us and helps us get a step closer to our goal. Thank you for supporting us!

    Note from the team: Please note that our team members range from 11 years old to 14 years old. Some of our younger members aren’t as tall as the others so some of our shirts are smaller sizes. The type/logo on a few of these shirts will be smaller due to the overall size of the team member. But no matter the size, we all have the same big dream of going to the World Festival and we thank you so very much.
